This understated yet beautifully-shaded bronze and khaki printed satin fabric is the latest Italian satin print to join our collections. It’s an exceptional-quality fabric and a very good example of why we are happy to include a selection of polyester fabrics in our collections. Breatheability and environmental impact are concerns that we always bear in mind when including polyester fabrics.
On the first count, our bronze and khaki printed satin fabric is a lightweight satin which stops short of being a semi-sheer fabric. This lightweight nature means that air can pass through to some extent, making for a more comfortable wear, especially in the cooler winter months. It’s very finely-woven with a beautifully soft and fluid yet very fresh, almost crisp handle. It drapes into soft folds and has a lovely movement as you can see from this video.
On the second count, we like to ensure that any polyester fabrics we offer are of good quality, their design and durability meaning that the environmental cost-per-wear is kept as low as possible. We think that this bronze and khaki printed satin fabric has the potential to do well by this score.
Although this is a lighter-weight satin, we’d simply suggest that attention should be paid to undergarments; unless you want to make a statement (in which case be proud!) then flesh-toning undergarments will work the best under this fabric. The perfect fabric for elegant blouses, tops and tunics, our bronze and khaki printed satin fabric could also be used for a dress – but you’d want to look at a design that made the most of its draping qualities; a lining would also be recommended in order to provide the required opacity and structure.
If you’re in search of pattern ideas, then you’ll want to know that this fabric is an option in our ClothSpot Slinky Shirt Kit – so perfect for classic blouse! We think it’s a design which should use the elegant draping qualities of this fabric particularly well.
We suggest hand-washing this finely-woven fabric in order to avoid damaging it in a machine. See our Fabric care pages for more information.
