We’re not averse to a bit of sparkle in our lives and this metallic blue and emerald striped jersey fabric is just a bit fabulous. Frankly we’re not about to wait for a party as we think it will be just as good as a top over jeans to add an edge to your daywear.
Lightweight polo-necked jumpers are quite the thing as layering elements right now and our sparkling emerald striped jersey fabric would work rather well in this way too. It has a surprisingly soft handle – not in the least scratchy and perfectly comfortable next to the skin. This is a fabric with a lovely swing to its movement as well as good stretch-and-return as you can see in this video.
We haven’t been given a formal composition beyond ‘polyester’ however we would be surprised if there weren’t some viscose and spandex in here as well – such is the feel and the capacity for stretch – although we can’t confirm that.
The colours – ah well – the colours. Sparkling sapphire blue, emerald green, darker stripes of black and softer ones of teal green. You’d be hard pressed not to find a blue or a green which would look just a bit fabulous with this emerald striped jersey fabric. It has good opacity for its weight which is that of a medium-weight single-knit jersey fabric.
We think this is a fabric that would be very happy as a top or a tunic – either a draping, elegant design or one which relied on some negative ease and which played with its ruching potential. This is a single-knit viscose jersey fabrics – it’s possible that this isn’t one for a dress but that might depend on its design and structure. If in doubt then please do ask for a free sample – or drop us a line with your pattern details – we’re always happy to advise.
A pattern such as the ‘Alice’ top from Style Arc would be an excellent way of using a little negative ease and ruching to make the most of the stretch and the stripes in this emerald striped jersey fabric.
