Having experienced draping delight with previous colourways of this delightful medium-weight crepe fabric, we decided this jade green crepe fabric would be wonderful with the selection of mint green, aqua and other blue-green shades we’re posting during the week of its arrival. We love the potential of this jade green crepe fabric to work with lots of our summer fabrics – providing a colour-blocked base for fabrics with a patterns and textures.
Although a much less substantial fabric than our triple crepes, this glowing jade green crepe fabric has the slightly-textured handle you’d expect from a crepe fabric. However it’s a very soft and particularly-fluid variant of that classic fabric as you can see from this video.
We’d describe it as a good medium-weight dress fabric category – with fabulous pliability and without the bulk you might expect for a fabric of that weight. With its close weave it has very good opacity for its weight and although you might consider a slip or a lining for movement against hosiery or for structure – you wouldn’t require it for purposes of modesty.
Trousers, dresses, skirts and tops are all options for this most versatile of fabrics. However we’ve lately fallen in love with jumpsuits as you’ll know from recent blog posts. We’d definitely consider this jade greep crepe fabric as a candidate for a pattern such as the ‘Carly’ Jumpsuit from Style Arc. We think the drape of this fabric is perfect for it – light enough for cross-season wear and classy enough to take you through to the evening, too.
You can see other jumpsuit pattern options on our Jumpsuit Sewing Patterns Pinterest Board.
Whatever your taste however, this is a fabric that would stand you in good stead season after season – one worth adding to your stash even if you’re not quite sure what you might do with it right away (if we may be so bold).
Wash at 30 or 40 degrees – see our Fabric care pages for more information.
