This exceptional navy blue crepe-backed satin fabric has made a welcome return to the ClothSpot collection and we’re delighted to welcome it back. We know that this navy blue crepe-backed satin fabric comes from a very high-end UK retail source, hence in part our delight at grabbing further supplies.
This navy blue crepe-backed satin fabric is a refined fabric; not as heavy as some but very definitely able to hold its own as a garment fabric and not simply as a lining. (Although we have to say that lining a coat with this classy number will elevate your winter wardrobe considerably). This is a good medium-weight dress fabric with excellent opacity and a beautiful, rolling drape as you can see from this video.
Our navy blue crepe-backed satin fabric is a good deep, intense navy blue with the slightest hint of being ‘knocked back’ in its colour. It has a beautiful handle and is a very stable fabric – an absolute joy to work with. It’s a polyester fabric so no frills in the composition department but we think that’s no bad thing when it comes to being practical and hard-wearing.
If you’re deciding to go down the top or dress route then you’ll probably want to add a half-slip or a lining just to help with movement generally, and especially over hosiery. However as a top or elegant tunic it will feel delightful to wear against the skin. We’d suggest a pattern such as this classy ‘Marilyn’ shift dress from Style Arc dress would be a fabulous addition to your wardrobe as a ‘put it on and just don’t worry’ cocktail dress.
Does anyone wear cocktail dresses any more? If not, then we think this would be a the perfect excuse to start again…
