We’ve begun to receive requests for linen fabrics and as if my magic, here’s our first of the 2018 Spring/Summer season. This paler-than-pale aqua linen mix fabric is a relaxed fabric with a lovely swinging drape as you can see from this video.
This is a medium-weight linen mix fabric; the viscose content is what lends it such a soft handle as well as the quality of its drape. It has decent opacity for its weight – a shirt or tunic would be just fine without a lining, as would a skirt or dress if you were planning to wear them for a less formal summery occasion. However we’d suggest that a lining or half-slip would be necessary in order to preserve modesty or to provide a little substance for a more structured garment.
Although the weight and structure of this pale aqua linen mix fabric would cope perfectly well with a more structured garment such as a jacket, we’d suggest that the weave structure and general feel of the fabric would be more suited to a less formal design.
The colour of this pale aqua linen mix fabric is just a little more green than a powder blue and perhaps a fraction more so too, than a duck-egg blue. Having said that it picks up pastels beuatifully and looks rather lovely with our ‘Syringa’ navy blue and lilac stretch satin fabric which has gentle pale blue highlights that are picked out by our aqua linen mix fabric.
Classic tunics and shirts are very much the forte of this relaxed pale aqua linen mix fabric. We suggest that this is a fabric which would work well as a ‘Helmi’ Tunic Dress from Named Clothing.
