The terracotta and palest pink flowers in this turquoise floral viscose challis flowers presented us with the vision of lying back in an Italian courtyard garden, staring up at an azure sky, framed with climbing flowers and foliage. It’s a dream that’s sadly unlikely to be realised this year but we’re doing the best we can to bring you such treats in fabric form.
What kind of fabric is this?
This is is a lovely-quality, medium-to-lighter weight viscose fabric. It’s been woven in a plain weave pattern. The print design is an elegantly trailing one, providing the opportunity to position the print design where you think it will work best on your garment.
What does this fabric feel like?
Our draping turquoise floral viscose challis fabric has a particularly smooth handle. It will be cool and very comfortable next to the skin.
How does this fabric move?
Use it on the cross or hang it straight – this is a fabric that loves to flow and ripple. You can see how our cool turquoise floral viscose challis fabric moves and drapes in this video.
NOTE: Our videos are intended to show the movement of a fabric. For accurate colour and pattern detail, please refer to our still images.
Will I need to line this fabric?
The weave of this fabric is plain and fairly close, with good opacity due to the print design. You’ll be just fine with an unlined blouse or tunic and for less formal, more carefree occasions an unlined dress or skirt in this fabric will be perfectly acceptable, especially in draped designs. However a silhouette may be visible against the sun and so depending the design of a dress or skirt, a plain cotton lawn lining or a half-slip might be advisable.
What can I make with this fabric?
We think our rippling terracotta and turquoise floral viscose challis fabric will be perfect for summer tops and blouses, warmer-weather dresses and tunics. Try a simple camisole top or a slip dress. We’re using it as an option in our Cami Kit since its drape and movement is perfect for the Ogden Cami pattern from True/Bias which is the basis for the kit.
