‘Pretty In Pink’ meets ‘Back to the Future’ – that was our thought when we unravelled this stunning cobalt blue, mauve and pink abstract satin fabric. The soft raspberry pinks here are beautifully warm and muted – yet the fabric is nonetheless a vibrant statement. You could of course create an extraordinary top or blouse with this wafting satin, but our reasoning is that it would make a fabulous statement lining.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our distinctive mauve and pink abstract satin fabric is a lighter-weight polyester satin fabric.
What does this fabric feel like?
This is a very soft fabric, smooth the the touch and comfortable next to the skin.
How does this fabric move?
Our mauve and pink abstract satin fabric wafts and drapes beautifully. It hangs in soft folds which billow in a little breeze. You can see how it moves and drapes in this video.
Will I need to line this fabric?
We’re proposing that this is a fabric you may well want to use as a lining for a coat or jacket, due to its soft handle, vibrant print design and ease of movement across other fabrics. However if you chose to use it as a blouse, top or lingerie, then its close weave and decisive colour palette mean that it would fulfil those roles without the need for a lining..
What can I make with this fabric?
As a lining, this pink abstract satin fabric would work well with any light-to-medium-weight coating or suiting fabric. It might not have the substance to balance a heavier-weight coating as a lining; if you’re in any doubt then don’t hesitate to check with us.
As a garment in its own right, you could consider a kimono-style gown – the soft and floating nature of this fabric would make it a fabulous choice for a pattern such as the Loungewear Robe from Style Arc.
We suggest hand-washing this finely-woven fabric in order to avoid damaging it in a machine. See our Fabric care pages for more information.
