We have two colourways of this exquisitely-draping soft green ribbed jersey fabric; its sibling is a dusky pink version with just as much in the way of versatility and grace. At the outset we need to make one of our occasional ‘we know it’s polyester, but…’ statements. The soft handle, the gently-reflective yarn and the way this beautiful muted green ribbed jersey fabric hangs are all reasons why we’re giving it a chance.
This is a single-knit fabric constructed from a fine yarn. As a result it has good opacity for its weight and will work perfectly well in its own right as a top or tunic. Except for fairly informal occasions, a skirt or dress would require a slip or lining in order to provide the substance and modesty that those garments would require. This is a fabric with a beautifully smooth handle and as well as that fabulous drape, it has an excellent stretch-and-return which we understand is mechanical in origin rather than being due to any spandex content. You can see how our soft green ribbed jersey fabric moves and drapes in this video.
The colour green here is a very muted, very slightly greyed willow green – not as much grey or yellow as you’d expect in a sage green. We think it would be perfect as a polo neck for layering, a simple draping T-shirt or T-shirt dress. Look out for any pattern recommending a finer-knit, draping or silk jersey, such as this Cowl-Neck Blouse from BurdaStyle.
Wash at 30 or 40 degrees – see our Fabric care pages for more information.
