Romantic, flowing ankle-length tea dresses and skirts continue to thrive on the fashion scene this season, as do gently-draping shirts and tops. This draping cobalt blue and red floral viscose fabric is the sibling colourway to our ‘Tresco’ draping navy blue and mauve floral viscose fabric and it’s a fabulous option for those of you who might like to add a little ‘pop’ to their wardrobe. Perfect for easy-to-wear flowing dresses, shorts and tunics, we love the dots of gold, the sharp black stems and those vibrant blue flowers.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our cobalt blue and red floral viscose fabric is a flat-woven 100% viscose fabric. We’d describe it as a medium-weight fabric for tops or blouses or as a lighter-weight dress fabric.
What does this fabric feel like?
This is a fabric with a very soft handle; it’s breathable and very comfortable next to the skin.
How does this fabric move?
Whether you decide to use it on the cross or hang it straight, this gold, rich blue and red floral viscose fabric loves to flow and ripple. However it’s a stable fabric which we’ve found easy to work with. You can see how it drapes and moves in this video.
Will I need to line this fabric?
Our blue and red floral viscose fabric has decent opacity for its weight and the depth of colour also helps. A top, blouse or tunic won’t need lining. You might choose to line, layer or wear a half-slip under a skirt or dress unless you’re planning to wear it for a less formal occasion as you might see a silhouette if you’re standing in front of the sun.
What can I make with this fabric?
Tops, blouses and tunics will be perfect choices. Skirts and dresses are also options, but they’ll need to be draping and less structured designs. The ‘Maggie’ Blouse from Style Arc is a pretty and easy pattern, perfect for this cobalt blue and red floral viscose fabric.
