We love the fresh, vibrant shades of this orange and aqua viscose challis fabric. Guaranteed to stand out even on a bright sunny day, there’s also a cool organic feel to the painted print on this fabric which is a sister colourway to our ‘Zest’ lime and sage green viscose challis fabric. The print is scattered across an ivory viscose that will work for tops, relaxed summer dresses and lingerie too. You might also want to note how stunning it looks with our ‘Hibiscus’ aqua Tencel twill fabric – we’re thinking a printed top over softly-flowing palazzo pants, but that’s just us…
What kind of fabric is this?
This is is a lighter weight viscose fabric, woven in a plain weave pattern. The weave is a relatively close, fine one, meaning that there’s good opacity here considering the colour and weight of this breathable fabric. The composition and weight make it the perfect choice for warmer weather garments.
What does this fabric feel like?
Our draping orange and aqua viscose challis fabric has a soft, smooth handle. It will be cool and very comfortable next to the skin.
How does this fabric move?
This is a fabric with a gentle drape and a lively swing. Although it’s a lighter-weight fabric, a metre or more feels quite substantial in its ability to hang and move well. You can see how our cool orange and aqua viscose challis fabric bounces and drapes in this video.
NOTE: Our videos are intended to show the movement of a fabric. For accurate colour and pattern detail, please refer to our still images.
Will I need to line this fabric?
The level of opacity in this fabric means you’ll be fine with an unlined blouse or tunic although you will need to consider undergarments that don’t contrast with your skin tone. However a silhouette will be visible against the sun and so depending the design of a dress or skirt, a plain cotton lawn lining or a half-slip will be advisable for modesty as well as for additional substance and shape.
What can I make with this fabric?
We think our lively orange and aqua viscose challis fabric will be perfect for summer tops and blouses as well as more casual warmer-weather dresses and tunics. The delicate gathers and volume in a relaxed top like the ‘Roscoe’ from True / Bias would make lovely use of the gentle movement and relaxed print design of this fabric.
