Here’s another fabulously-versatile cotton twill for your wardrobe. In a soft shade of grey, this is a sturdy medium-weight cotton twill without any stretch.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our grey cotton twill fabric is a resilient medium-weight twill with the characteristic diagonal weave structure you’d expect.
What does this fabric feel like?
This twill has a smooth handle and is very pliable. It will be very easy to work with due to its stability. Comfortable to wear next to the skin as a pair of trousers for instance, it’s breathable too.
How does this fabric move?
As you might expect, this is a crisp, well-structured cotton twill which holds a shape well. You can see how it moves and stretches in this video.
Will I need to line this fabric?
You won’t need to line trousers made from this grey cotton twill fabric. Likewise a jacket or coat could be constructed without a lining providing you finished the seams well. However a more fitted jacket would benefit from a lining to help with structure. A skirt or dress may also need lining in order to help with movement across the body, especially over hosiery.
What can I make with this fabric?
This is a fabric that bridges utilitarian as well as casual wardrobe options. Trousers, jean jackets, skirts and pinafores are all options. If you’re up for a big-ticket item however, then you could even consider a trench coat.
We know that some of you are looking at shorter, casual jackets for the summer months and we hear that the ‘Stacie’ Jean Jacket pattern from Style Arc is a popular one which would be perfect for this grey cotton twill fabric.
Machine wash at 40 degrees but we recommend dry-cleaning lined garments. Find out more on our About our fabrics pages.
