Our charcoal ponte Roma jersey fabric isn’t quite what it says on the box – but in a good way we promise! We usually find that our grey and charcoal jersey fabrics are offered in a ‘marled’ knit – that is, combining a number of different shades of yarn that add depth to what might otherwise be a very flat colour.
In the case of our charcoal ponte Roma jersey fabric complexity is provided through the use of marled mid- and dark grey yarns in a fine stripe that serves to lift this fabric to another level. Our charcoal ponte Roma jersey fabric is a medium-weight doubleknit which achieves a balance between softness of handle, stretch, structure and drape. It moves with elegance with a resilient but not excessive stretch, mostly across its width as you can see in this video.
We think that this charcoal ponte Roma jersey fabric is typically versatile – it would be perfect as a dress, top, tunic or relaxed trousers. As with our other ponte Roma jersey fabrics it would be perfect for layering – and being a neutral would be a perfect partner for colour blocking with other, more vibrant colours.
We’ve put together a ‘Coatigans’ Pinterest board with some pattern ideas that you might want to consider for this or other knitted or wool fabrics. These are simple, often unlined, relaxed, wrapping and draping garments, perfect for putting on and setting aside as you move in and out of the house or as the temperature changes. They’re both practical and elegant – more so than the the title ‘coatigan’ might suggest!
If layering’s your thing, then you might want to try this ‘Esmé’ Maxi cardigan from Named Clothing – we think it would be wonderful over a tunic in one of our more vibrant colour options.
