We’re always on the lookout for jersey fabrics to help with cross-season weather, especially our ponte Roma double-knits. We like to keep a lively selection of colours in stock and this teal blue ponte Roma jersey fabric is our latest arrival.
What kind of fabric is this?
This is a versatile double-knit ponte Roma jersey fabric in a glowing shade of teal blue. It’s very much a blue, not a green, but isn’t vibrant or blue enough to be a kingfisher or a peacock blue. It’s a blend of viscose, polyester and spandex and we’d describe it as sitting towards the lighter-weight end of the medium-weight double-knit bracket. You can find our more about ponte Roma jersey fabrics in this blog post.
What does this fabric feel like?
This is a beautifully soft-handled double-knit; it’s both pliable and easy to work. It will be comfortable next the skin, too.
How does this fabric move?
Our cheery teal blue Roma jersey fabric leans towards the more draping end of our ponte Roma jersey collection. It has an elegant swing and an easy drape. There’s about a 40% stretch across its width with just a little ease down its length. You can see how it moves and stretches in this video.
Will I need to line this fabric?
We’d be more than happy to recommend its use for unlined garments, including those with ‘waterfall’ fronts where both sides of the fabric are designed to be visible. A lining wouldn’t be required for any of these options, although you could choose to self-line the top of a dress or a fitted skirt for additional structure.
What can I make with this fabric?
Tops, tunics and dresses and draping outerwear are all options for this rich teal blueponte Roma jersey fabric. Trousers are also an option although we’d suggest that there’s not quite enough stretch here for you to use this fabric in closely-fitted leggings. For an easy pop of colour in the winter months, you could try this ‘Cher’ Knit Dress from Style Arc – an easy pull-on sweater dress with instant impact.
