We’re great advocates of the potential for lighter-weight wool fabrics during the warmer months. If you’ve ever worn a pair of flowing lightweight wool trousers then you’ll know just how cool and comfortable they can be. This rich khaki-brown wool suiting fabric has arrived from Italy via a high-end UK-based designer and is a beautiful-quality fabric.
A blend of wool and mohair, it has a delightfully-lively movement as you can see from this video, as well as a smooth but crisp handle.
Our khaki-brown wool suiting fabric is woven from two colours of yarn. The width-wise warp thread is a soft, earth brown while the weft is a very dark brown. The combination of the two means that this fabric has a real sense of depth. In some lights it has an almost olive tone although it’s very definitely a brown cloth. It looks beautiful with pale neutrals; ivories and creams. It also works well with vibrant greens and pastels too.
The construction of this lovely wool is a fine, flat weave although not the tightest. As a result this khaki-brown wool suiting fabric has good opacity but is cool to wear. We think it would be just fabulous as cross-season trousers – either wide, flowing ones or more tailored and cropped designs. It would also make a classic pencil skirt or even a tailored dress.
Relaxed blazers are very much on trend at the moment and we’ve been getting super feedback from customers using Kwik Sew pattern 3715. We think our khaki-brown wool suiting fabric would be perfect for a lightweight, summer version of this design.
