This glowing sunset pink viscose jersey fabric is designed to bring some colourful energy to your wardrobe now that the sun is out (at least here in the UK). We’ve called it a ‘sunset’ pink since there’s a beautiful warm glow about it – and we can imagine it crossing that ‘difficult’ divide between day and evening wear in the warmer months.
What kind of fabric is this?
Our sunset pink viscose jersey fabric is a draping single-knit composed primarily of viscose, with 5% elastane. It’s a lovely-quality medium-weight jersey with a definite sense of substance to it once you have a metre or more in your hand. There’s about a 50% stretch across the width and 30% down the length length of this fabric.
What does this fabric feel like?
This is a beautifully-smooth, finely-woven jersey. It will be very comfortable to wear next to the skin and it’s breathable too.
How does this fabric move?
Our sunset pink viscose jersey fabric is very much a draping knit with a fluid movement. You can see how it moves and stretches in this video.
NOTE: Our videos are intended to show the movement of a fabric. For accurate colour and pattern detail, please refer to our still images.
Will I need to line this fabric?
You won’t need to line a shirt, top or tunic made from this fabric, however a dress may require a bodice lining for structure depending on your pattern design. Unless you’re wearing it over bare legs, then you’ll need a half-slip to enable this fabric to move against your body.
What can I make with this fabric?
Tops, tunics and dresses are all options for this vibrant sunset pink viscose jersey fabric. You’ll need to find a pattern intended for a knit fabric; garments with more draping designs will work particularly well, as will those which incorporate elements of ruching and negative ease. With the right pattern, single knit viscose can be a versatile choice for the summer months; it’s breathable and the movement will help move cooler air around your body. Sew House Seven’s ‘Tabor’ V-Neck Top pattern offers a selection of relaxed sleeve options but we particularly like the ‘Clara Top’ from Fibre Mood for its simple elegance which we can see crossing over into stylish and relaxed evening wear.
