We’re great crepe fans here at ClothSpot. The ease of wearing these fabrics, coupled with their innate elegance are unbeatable. They’re perennial wardrobe winners for us and this rich teal blue stretch viscose crepe fabric is our latest addition to our range of crepe fabrics. There’s probably just a tad too much green in this shade for it to be deemed a turquoise, but it’s heading that way.
As a crepe, this teal blue stretch crepe fabric has all the qualities you’d might expect. It’s an excellent medium-weight crepe fabric with a classic textured (yet very soft) handle, and exquisite movement as you can see from this video.
The stretch element here isn’t excessive, but it helps with the weight and the fit. The stretch is mainly across the width of the fabric and also helps across the usual bias ease which you’d expect from a crepe. The dense crepe weave means that our burgundy stretch viscose crepe fabric has very good opacity – a top or tunic wouldn’t need a lining – although with a dress or skirt you’d want either to use a lining or a slip in order to help with movement across the body.
Our teal blue stretch viscose crepe fabric has all the versatility you’d expect from a crepe – separates, dresses, draping jackets and palazzo trousers are all options, although separates won’t have the weight of those made from our range of triple crepe fabrics, since those are somewhat more substantial cloths.
The scope of what you could create with this teal blue stretch viscose crepe fabric is enormous – but we’re in search of a simple, yet elegant tunic for layering. This semi-fitted ‘Maggie’ Tunic from Tessuti has been designed with linen in mind but we’re tempted to give it a go.
