We’ve been on the hunt for quality printed viscose fabrics to offer you – and we’ve been unearthing some rather lovely ones. However we have to confess that the superb quality of this navy blue and cream leaf-printed viscose fabric makes it an exception. The handle and refined weave of this fabric are quite lovely. We were intrigued to know how much of this might be due to the manufacturer’s finish and so we put a piece through the wash. Certainly there’s a little loss of the surface finish as you might expect but we can assure you that the sophisticated feel of this fabulous fabric remains.
The drape of our navy blue and cream leaf-printed viscose fabric is as lovely as you might imagine. You can see how it behaves in this video.
Supremely smooth-handled, this light-to-medium-weight dress fabric is closely-woven and has very good opacity for its weight, due to that weave as well as the depth of the print background. You’ll be just fine with an unlined blouse or tunic and for less formal, more carefree occasions an unlined dress in this fabric will be perfectly acceptable. A silhouette will probably be visible against the sun however – so a plain cotton lawn lining or a half-slip might be advisable depending on your pattern design and the formality of the occasion in question.
We think our navy blue and cream leaf-printed viscose fabric will be perfect for summer tops and blouses, warmer-weather dresses and tunics. It looks fabulous with denim as well as with other navy blue and neutral fabrics. However we think that a print like this deserves its moment in the sun – so why not conisder a garment that will allow the print design to take centre stage? The structure of this navy blue and cream leaf-printed viscose fabric would be perfect for a shirt dress – albeit perhaps a more flowing design such as the ‘Reeta’ Midi Shirt Dress from Named Clothing.
Wash at 30 or 40 degrees – see our Fabric care pages for more information.
