This eye-catching banded green, gold and mauve cotton fabric struck us like a bolt of carnival in a summer which need all the joy we can throw at it. The colour palette here challenges the eye in the best way possible. Pop it over a faded or dark denim for instant laid-back style; rock it on its own as a summer dress with volume for maximum impact. Whatever you choose, this exceptional and exclusive French designer fabric will give you maximum bang for your buck. We haven’t very much of this stunning fabric and when it’s gone, it’s gone…
What kind of fabric is this?
Our striped green, gold and mauve cotton linen fabric is a complex mélange of yarn types. It has a stable core structure of cotton, linen and bamboo, with polyamide and acrylic being used for those eye-catching bands of colour, each with its own pattern woven into it. The bands run horizontally between the selvedges but this is a wide fabric at 160cm so plenty of scope to lay pattern pieces across the width to achieve a vertical stripe. For matching purposes, those bands have a 15.5cm repeat.
What does this fabric feel like?
This is a fabric which is soft and gentle to the touch; it feels like a very natural cloth and is both pliable and easy to work with.
How does this fabric move?
Our striped mauve cotton fabric has some life to it. It falls and wafts gently in a breeze but also holds a little shape due to the different yarns used in the stripes. You can see how it moves and drapes in this video.
NOTE: Our videos are intended to show the movement of a fabric. For accurate colour and pattern detail, please refer to our still images.
Will I need to line this fabric?
This is a semi-sheer fabric which will definitely reveal a silhouette with the sun behind it. Contrasting undergarments will also be visible. You could choose to work around this by using a voluminous pattern design; alternatively we suggest you use a layered approach. Camisoles, slip dresses and on-show undergarments are all in character with the warmer weather that will suit this fabric.
What can I make with this fabric?
Overshirts, summer maxi dresses, tunics and tops are all options for this vibrant gold and mauve cotton fabric. Pleated or gathered skirts to billow in a breeze would also be fabulous fun for the summer months. We think Tessuti have a super range of patterns perfectly suited to summer fabrics. The angled seams in their ‘Helga’ Shirt would show off this design with style – and would be comfortable to wear, too.
