We’ve found you an alternative colourway to our fabulous ‘Attar’ blowsy floral stretch viscose drill fabric! Our cornflower blue printed stretch viscose drill fabric is a fabulous combination of colours. We love that cobalt cornflower blue – but also the vibrant mustard and olive of the stems and foliage.
As drill fabrics go, this is a slightly lighter-weight version and is extremely pliable – yet holds a shape with a crisp structure as you can see in this video.
Our blue printed stretch viscose drill fabric has a slightly linen-textured but softly-refined handle and has a substantial stretch of about 40%. For its weight we’d say that it has surprisingly good opacity. If you decide to go for a pencil skirt or trousers then you can be assured of keeping your underwear colour to yourself. We tested it at full stretch against a black and white patterned pair and there was a bit of a shadowy show-through but a plain pair would have been fine).
You’ll need to know that stretch runs down the length of this blue printed stretch viscose drill fabric, as is sometimes the case. A dress, trousers or skirt will need to be cut across the width of the fabric to allow the stretch to run across your garment – so check your fabric requirements and layout accordingly. Some pattern companies (e.g. Style Arc) will give different fabric requirements according to the direction of the stretch.
We think our blue printed stretch viscose drill fabric is extraordinarily versatile. The high viscose content means that it’s comfortable next to the skin and easy to work. Fitted dresses with built-in ease, fitted trousers, jackets and skirts are all options.
We suggested our ‘Attar’ version might be best used for closely-fitted trousers but you might also want to consider a fitted pencil skirt for our cornflower blue stretch viscose drill fabric. We love the casual styling of this ‘Charlie’ Sretch Woven skirt pattern from Style Arc.
