Coronavirus / Covid-19

Hello – it’s Alice here with a Coronavirus update.

Like many of you, I‘m involved in caring for my extended family and obviously I realise that you might have more on your mind than fabric and sewing right now. However I wanted to let you know that it’s business as usual here at ClothSpot.

As an online-only shop, we have very few visitors and I’ve been elbow-bumping with suppliers for a while. There’s enough room in our lovely workshop for Judy, Freya and myself to have plenty of personal workspace while Kerry already works with us at a distance via Skype and email. And of course, we’re washing our hands even more than usual (if that were possible!) as well as sanitising our work surfaces and equipment.

Our fabric supplies for the coming months are either with us already, or with our UK suppliers and reserved for us. Obviously we’re dependent on Royal Mail services as well as the deliveries that bring our stocks to us – however we’ve planned ahead as much as we can.

This is an anxious time for everyone, we know. Don’t forget though, that sewing is a wonderful way of keeping your mind focused and away from endless news reports and the negative aspects of social media. Time perhaps, to tackle that stash – and if inspiration strikes or you run short of supplies, then we’re here to help! We’re a very small business but just as we appreciate your support and loyalty enormously, we’re here on the end of the phone or an email away if you need to talk through your latest project.

I hope you’re all taking care of yourselves as well as each other – here’s love from all of us to all of you x

UPDATE: March 24th 2020

Following further social distancing restrictions announced on Monday March 23rd, ClothSpot remains open. Freya is now working from home and Judy will work from home too, except for processing orders. This means there need only be one person at a time in our workroom and we’re cleaning thoroughly between sessions. Our isolated village location means that we can travel safely. As long as the Royal Mail depot (which has strict distancing measures) remains open, we’ll continue to ship.

I’d like to thank all you wonderful customers for continuing to support us during these testing times. We’ve had such lovely messages and we’ve been so touched by your kindness 🥰 We realise that we’re very fortunate to have a setup that allows us to continue to trade for the time being – and we’ll let you know if that changes.

Stay safe everyone – this too shall pass. Alice x
