If you’re looking for a coating to stand up to a tough winter, then our teal wool melton coating fabric needs to be on your list. There’s a saying in this neck of the woods that when an east wind blows in, there’s been nothing to stand in its way since it left the Urals. This is the kind of fabric you need to withstand that kind of wind chill.
Although this isn’t the thickest fabric we’ve ever had in, its certainly one of the weightiest. It’s perfectly pliable and well-behaved but it’s a fabric with substance as you can see from this video. Draping, it isn’t.
We think our teal wool melton coating fabric would be perfect for the kind of coat (or indeed, a jacket) where structure is all. If you have a funnel neck that needs to stand up – or layers to button up over, then this is your fabric. Double-breasted pea coats, car coats, full-length military-style coats – all of these are options for this coating fabric. Some of our melton wools are beautifully-finished, refined and smooth to handle. This one is by no means coarse – it’s a well-finished fabric with style. However it’s ready for a demanding life.
On the pattern front, we think that this ‘Beatrice’ Pea Coat from Style Arc is perfect for making the most of this fabulous fabric.
