It’s the time of year when we’re beginning to get a tad excited about the upcoming autumn season – but we know only too well that it’s likely to stay warm for a month or two yet. We’ve yet to have the inevitable heatwave as soon as the schools go back, just as the skies opened the week they broke up. We figured it was time for an easy win on the dressmaking front – so this vibrant floral white cotton lawn fabric is one of a number of delicate cotton lawns we’ve found to lift your summer spirits.
This is a finely-woven cotton lawn fabric. It wafts and floats, rather than swinging or draping (we’ll post a video for you shortly). It has a lovely soft, light and very slightly crisp handle.
As a blouse or top, we think our cheerful floral white lawn fabric is probably going to need a lining unless you have a white camisole or vest top to hand. Alternatively we’d suggest layering over a Plain cotton lawn would be perfect as a lining as well as bringing some substance to your chosen garment.
Another option would be to use our pink and red floral white cotton lawn fabric as a floating layer over another garment. We like this Button-up blouse from BurdaStyle – we think it would be the perfect way of showing off the flowers scattered across this fabric. The strong shades of marine blue, leaf green, red and pink will give you plenty of co-ordination opportunities.
Another option would be summer lingerie to keep you cool in every way. We tested the ‘Fifi’ camisole and shorts from Tilly and the Buttons a while back and loved the way that pattern came together the perfect summer pyjamas!
Wash at 30 or 40 degrees – see our Fabric care pages for more information.
