Stretch cotton fabrics are tremendously versatile and this simple white stretch cotton twill fabric is a fabulous example of one which will be perfect for the warmer weather which (surely) will be sticking around for a month or two yet.
Come summer, white is a timeless classic and this white stretch cotton twill fabric will be perfect for casual jackets, skirts and trousers alike. Fitted holiday dresses and tunics are also an option – this is a medium-weight cotton twill fabric with plenty of structure and resilience but without undue bulk. Pliable and well-behaved it is soft to the touch but behaves like a crisply-woven twill should. As you can see from this video, it’s not inclined to drape although its inherent crispness shouldn’t be confused with stiffness; this is a beautifully comfortable fabric to wear.
And now we come to the trick subject of opacity. I can hear you all thinking: ‘But, pants!?’ As indeed you should. This is where we are on the pants issue with this white stretch cotton twill fabric. We have tested it (no, these are pictures we’re not sharing on Instagram or anywhere else, FYI) and we can tell you that seams and patterns will indeed show through a tightly-fitted trouser. This means you have three options. Option one is to avail yourselves of seamless, VPL-free underwear which approximates to the colour of your skin. Alternatively you can opt for a pattern design that doesn’t fit quite so closely to the skin, in which case we think that the ‘Natasha’ Woven Pant from Style Arc might be worth considering.
Alternatively you could just layer a top or tunic casually over any sensitive areas – which is probably what lots of us do with our trousers in any case. Whichever option you choose, we think it would be a shame to miss out on an opportunity for a timeless summer wardrobe item.
