We have a notion that if William Morris were to have time-travelled and landed fortuitously in about 1970, then this leafy-green printed cotton lawn fabric might well have been the result.
We rather like the scale and density of the print pattern here – and the fact that the classic Morris green-on-navy blue contrast has been updated to a fresh, vibrant spring green. The quality of the print is super – and includes a clever distribution of colours as well as variances in the scale of the pattern elements too.
We think our leafy-green printed cotton lawn fabric would beautifully as a blouse or top – we quite fancy using it to bring some ‘zing’ to our ‘Indigo depths’ finely-woven navy cotton drill fabric for instance. It also works well with faded denims and our pastel-colour linen fabrics. If you do decide to co-ordinate then you’ve a wealth of toning and contrast colours to choose from here – lilac, lemon and raspberry are all options. We’ve dressed it here with our ‘Summer sorbet’ lemon Irish linen fabric. However this is a fabric which stands on its own merits too – longer tunics, cool, simple frocks and long summer maxi-dresses would also be great ways of using this leafy-green printed cotton lawn fabric.
This a 100% cotton lawn fabric – using longer, finer Pima threads which give it a beautifully-refined handle. It has a gentle crispness, yet is smooth and fine to handle. It holds a shape well and has a lovely fresh drape, as you can see in this video clip.
Our leafy-green-printed cotton lawn fabric has excellent opacity for its weight – a blouse or even a tunic wouldn’t require a lining – however a dress or skirt might need something to provide additional modesty and structure. One of our Plain 100% cotton lawn fabrics would do the trick, we think (the Apple green, Lemon or Navy blue colourways would be our choices we think).
Our leafy-green printed cotton lawn fabric is 140cm wide – lots of fruity fun in every metre.
