The quality of the digital print pattern was what drew our attention to this gloriously, coolly-wafting ivory floral cotton lawn fabric. Having felt it and taken a closer look we weren’t in the least surprised to hear that it originates from a high-end designer label. With a refined, fine weave and a gently-crisp handle, we think our ivory floral cotton lawn fabric is the perfect fabric in which to stay cool on a hummingly-hot summer day.
Our ivory floral cotton lawn fabric is a lighter-weight cotton lawn fabric, perfect for summer layering. It’s not quite a semi-sheer fabric – and with the right undergarment a shirt or top won’t need lining. However a dress or tunic might benefit from a layer of cotton lawn underneath – and we’d be inclined to have a play with one of our Fuchsia, Soft purple, Berry or Soft pistachio colourways – all of which pick out the deceptively-rich colours in this print pattern. In our eyes, the print has been developed from silhouettes of flowers and leaves, filling them in with watercoloured floral suggestions in khaki green, hellebore pinks and richer, unexpected, marine blues and greens.
The movement of this ivory floral cotton lawn fabric is a soft, floating drape which will catch a breeze with elegance, as you can see from this video.
We think this fabric is perfect for summer tops and blouses – and, we think, gently-falling maxi dresses. We’d be inclined to make the most of its lighter weight with ruches and softly-rolling gathers, bringing body and movement to a garment without bulkiness. This Maxi Dress pattern from BurdaStyle is one we’re keen to try with this summer’s crop of cotton lawn fabrics.
It’s the gathers into the keyhole bodice that we think will work particularly well with finer fabrics such as this ivory floral cotton lawn fabric.
Wash at 30 or 40 degrees – see our Fabric care pages for more information.
