There are coatings where we take care to warn you that they might not be the ones to keep you warm on a January morning on the way to work in the snow. Or even wandering down leafless Paris promenades in a November chill. However with the right lining, we think our vibrant pink wool coating fabric would be perfect for such moments – albeit with a light heart, elegance and charm.
Our thickly-woven vibrant pink wool coating fabric has a little nap on its ‘right’ side – but it’s not what we’d term a ‘mouflon’ or a ‘melton’ since the weave pattern is still discernible on both sides. It’s this nap and the layered weave structure that will trap air (and warmth!) when you wear this soft green wool coating fabric; they’ll also provide you with an unmistakable sense of luxury and comfort.
Although our vibrant pink wool coating fabric has excellent opacity for its weight, it won’t be too heavy to wear for long periods of time. Its construction also makes it pliable yet stable, giving a sense of movement and drape as you can see in this video.
We’d say that our vibrant pink wool coating fabric lay somewhere between a medium-weight and a heavy-weight coating fabric – and we’ve called it a coating fabric because that’s most definitely what it is. That doesn’t mean you couldn’t fashion a stylishly snappy short skirt out of it – or a warm jacket. However we’re not sure you’d want this kind of weight as a trouser fabric – its forte is definitely outerwear.
The shade of pink here isn’t a hot neon one – it’s much softer and more complex than that. There are yarns of peach and shell pink among the richer shades of pink – the complexity and depth of colour here is just seductive. You can contrast or tone with linings – darks, pastels, plain or patterned – might we suggest you take a look these for starters? We chose our ‘Marimba jive’ floral digital printed peachskin fabric to complement it for our photography.
As we head into AW17 we’ve been having queries about fabrics suitable for this Tessuti ‘Oslo’ coat pattern. For the record, we think this would be the perfect fabric – we can’t wait to burrow down into a deep shawl collar made from this vibrant pink wool coating fabric.
