More and more of you are discovering the delights of viscose fabrics. They take a print well and drape with elegance and life. What’s more, they’re breatheable and handle beautifully. We can assure you that this purple-printed draping grey viscose twill fabric will delight you in all these qualities and more.
This is a beautifully soft-handled fabric which we’d describe as being at the lighter-weight end of the medium-weight dress fabric bracket. It has good opacity for its weight and what’s more, it has the beautiful drape that we’ve come to expect of a viscose twill fabric. Take a look at this video – you’ll see what we mean.
Cut it on the cross for even more movement – yet be reassured that this isn’t in the least an unstable or a badly-behaved fabric. Smoothed out on the cutting table, you’ll know right away when it’s straight along the grain despite that fine twill weave pattern.
Aside from all these undoubted qualities, it’s the print pattern here that will surely catch your eye. If you didn’t realise that you needed an artichoke-printed top or dress in your wardrobe – then surely this purple-printed grey viscose twill fabric will convince you. The artichokes here are almost photographic in their quality – although they’re painted – and echoed in the white, olive and cerise-sketched outlines that are scattered around the fabric. We thought this was a fabulous example of drawing a colour combination from nature – and bringing an unusual edge to a print pattern.
Tops, blouses, tunics and dresses are all options, none of which would require lining above the waist for purposes of modesty. A skirt or dress would need a half-slip or skirt lining to add just a little substance and to allow this gently-draping grey viscose twill fabric to move against the body. Likewise a fitted bodice would need some sort of structure too.
We think the new ‘V-Neck Dress’ Pattern from BurdaStyle would be a lovely way of showcasing the print and the movement in our distinctive grey viscose twill fabric – it could be worn as a dress or a tunic, belted or not.
Finally, just so you know, we photographed it with our ‘Thurloe’ wool & cashmere purple melton fabric which echoes perfectly the tones of purple in the print of this grey viscose twill fabric.
